Veterans with PTSD and alcohol struggles may get MDMA therapy in new trial

Summary

This study tests whether MDMA-assisted therapy can help veterans who have both PTSD and alcohol use disorder. About 80 veterans will receive either MDMA or a low-dose placebo during three therapy sessions, plus non-drug counseling. The goal is to see if this treatment reduces PTSD symptoms and alcohol use better than therapy alone.
