Special diet after lung surgery could cut hospital stay by a day

NCT ID NCT07159659

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study tests whether a diet rich in medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) can help people recover faster after lung surgery. MCTs are fats that bypass the lymphatic system, potentially reducing fluid buildup and shortening hospital stays. The trial will enroll 210 adults undergoing lung lobectomy to see if the diet cuts the average stay from 3-4 days to 2 days.
