New nerve block could cut opioid use after breast cancer surgery

Summary

This study tests whether a specific nerve block (SPSIP block) can reduce pain and the need for strong painkillers after mastectomy and lymph node removal. About 50 women with breast cancer will receive either the nerve block or a placebo before surgery. The goal is to improve recovery and reduce opioid use.
