Massage plus exercise: a new hope for back pain?
NCT ID NCT07193251
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether adding connective tissue massage to core stabilization exercises can reduce pain and improve function and endurance in people with mechanical low back pain. Thirty adults aged 20-55 will be split into two groups: one gets exercises plus massage, the other gets exercises only. Both groups will attend supervised sessions twice a week for 8 weeks and do daily home exercises. The results will show if the combination offers extra benefits.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
connective tissue massage and core stabilization exercises
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a more effective non-drug treatment for mechanical low back pain, reducing pain and improving daily function.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 30 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The added benefit of massage over exercises alone may be small or absent.
