Simple IV drug tested to stop Post-Heart attack confusion

NCT ID NCT06759259

Summary

This study tested whether adding a drug called mannitol to standard heart attack treatment could prevent delirium, a serious state of confusion, in older patients. It involved 50 patients aged 65+ who had just had a heart attack and showed signs of inflammation. Half received the mannitol infusion alongside their regular care, while the other half received standard care alone, to see which group developed less confusion.
