First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether giving mannitol, a substance that reduces brain swelling, could prevent delirium in older adults hospitalized for a heart attack. Fifty patients aged 65 and older with high inflammation levels were included. The goal was to see if mannitol could lower the chance of developing confusion and other delirium symptoms during their hospital stay.
