Simple change to mammogram sequence could ease pain for breast cancer survivors
NCT ID NCT07443579
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether the order in which mammogram images are taken affects pain and satisfaction in women who have had breast cancer. 400 women who had breast-conserving surgery will be randomly assigned to one of four view sequences during their annual surveillance mammogram. The goal is to find the most comfortable sequence without changing the standard imaging.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
mammography view sequencing (procedure)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a less painful and more comfortable mammography experience for women who have had breast cancer.
What could go wrong
This is a small, single-center trial focused on comfort, not on detecting cancer or improving survival. The results may not apply to all mammography settings.
