NCT ID NCT03121404

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looks at why people with cirrhosis (scarred liver) often lose muscle and fat, which can make them sicker. Researchers will compare tissue samples from 16 cirrhosis patients getting a liver transplant and 16 healthy people having other abdominal surgery. They will measure a protein called myostatin and other signals that control muscle and fat, to better understand the problem.
