Volunteers deliberately infected with malaria to stop future outbreaks

NCT ID NCT06607003

Summary

This study aims to understand how malaria develops in people and how it spreads from humans to mosquitoes. Healthy volunteers will be intentionally infected with a malaria parasite via an injection of donated blood, then closely monitored as they develop symptoms. Researchers will study the infection process and use mosquito feeding sessions to see how the disease transmits, gathering data to help develop future malaria vaccines.
