New combo therapy aims to keep advanced breast cancer in check longer
NCT ID NCT07179939
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This phase II trial tests whether a maintenance therapy of trastuzumab plus either pyrotinib or dalpiciclib and endocrine therapy can delay disease progression in people with HER2-positive advanced breast cancer. After an initial treatment with trastuzumab rezetecan, 288 participants will receive one of the maintenance combinations based on their hormone receptor status. The study aims to see if this approach improves how long the cancer stays under control.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
trastuzumab rezetecan (SHR-A1811), pyrotinib, dalpiciclib, trastuzumab, and endocrine therapy (letrozole, anastrozole, exemestane, fulvestrant, leuprorelin, or goserelin)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward a more effective maintenance strategy to delay disease progression in people with HER2-positive advanced breast cancer.
What could go wrong
This is an early phase II trial, so results are not yet proven. The combination may cause side effects or not improve outcomes compared to existing treatments.
