Magnets may keep eyes closed and safe

NCT ID NCT06291818

First seen May 22, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026

Summary

This study tests a temporary magnetic device that sticks to the skin to help close the eyelids in people who cannot fully shut their eyes (lagophthalmos), which can lead to corneal damage. About 25 adults aged 18–80 with this condition will try the device to see if it provides adequate eye closure. The goal is to prevent dryness, ulcers, and potential blindness without surgery.
