Magnets may replace stitches in colorectal surgery

Summary
This study tests a new magnetic device to connect sections of the large bowel during colorectal surgery, potentially replacing traditional stitches or staples. About 50 adults needing this type of surgery will participate. The goal is to see if the magnets can safely create a strong connection that allows the bowel to heal properly.
