First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tested whether adding magnesium sulfate to a standard nerve block (erector spinae plane block) could improve pain control after breast cancer surgery. Sixty women scheduled for a modified radical mastectomy received the nerve block with or without magnesium. The main goal was to see if magnesium reduced the amount of morphine needed for pain in the first 24 hours after surgery.
