Summary
When a tooth is removed, the bone and gum often shrink, making it harder to place a dental implant later. This study tests a new magnesium membrane that is placed over a bone graft in the socket. Unlike standard membranes, it is rigid enough to protect the graft but dissolves on its own within about 16 weeks, so no second surgery is needed. Ten adults will be followed for up to 19 months to see how much bone is preserved and whether this approach reduces the need for extra grafting.
