Summary
This study looked at whether adding magnesium supplements to standard depression treatment (fluoxetine) could improve cognitive function in adults with major depressive disorder. Forty participants took either fluoxetine alone or fluoxetine plus magnesium for 6 weeks. Researchers measured changes in thinking ability and a brain-related protein called BDNF. The goal was to see if magnesium offers extra benefits for mental clarity.
