First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study looks at how certain white blood cells (macrophages) in the lungs react to inflammation in people with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). Researchers want to understand how these cells help turn off inflammation and repair lung damage. Participants are adults in the ICU on breathing machines. They will provide lung fluid, blood, and nasal samples up to three times over 10 days. The goal is to learn more about the immune response and possibly speed up treatment for lung infections.
