New drug shows promise for lingering shingles pain

Summary
This study tested a new drug called LX9211 to see if it can reduce pain in people with postherpetic neuralgia, a type of nerve pain that continues after a shingles rash heals. About 79 adults with moderate to severe pain for at least 3 months took either the drug or a placebo for 11 weeks. The main goal was to measure changes in daily pain scores and how pain affected sleep.
