New hope for anemia patients: drug duo boosts blood counts
NCT ID NCT05399732
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding luspatercept to standard cyclosporine treatment helps people with non-severe aplastic anemia, a rare condition where the bone marrow doesn't make enough blood cells. 58 newly diagnosed adults who did not need blood transfusions took part. The goal was to see if the combination improved red blood cell levels better than cyclosporine alone. The approach aims to control the disease and improve quality of life, but does not cure it.
