New lung nodule marker could spare healthy tissue

NCT ID NCT07180823

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This small study tests a new technique to mark suspicious lung nodules before surgery. Using a special imaging system, doctors place a tiny marker near the nodule through a breathing tube, avoiding a needle through the chest. The goal is to make it easier for surgeons to find and remove the nodule completely while saving as much healthy lung as possible. The study involves 5 adults with partially solid lung nodules who are already scheduled for surgery.
