First seen Apr 01, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study tested storing donor lungs at a cooler temperature (10°C) to allow lung transplants to be done during daytime hours instead of overnight. 45 people received a lung transplant using this storage method. The main goal was to see if the rate of severe lung injury 72 hours after transplant was low (under 20%). The study also tracked survival at one year.
