Doctors test new way to monitor lungs in surgery

NCT ID NCT04725318

Summary

This study aimed to see if a small balloon placed in the food pipe could safely and accurately measure pressure inside the lungs of patients undergoing chest surgery. Researchers compared these balloon measurements to images from a special belt that shows how the lungs are collapsing or expanding. The goal was to gather information to potentially help doctors set breathing machines more safely during these complex operations.
