Scientists peer inside living lungs to map disease damage

NCT ID NCT02556697

Summary

This study aimed to better understand lung diseases by looking directly at the smallest blood vessels in the lungs. Researchers used a special microscopic camera during a standard bronchoscopy procedure in 9 patients with either scleroderma or emphysema. The goal was to see how these tiny vessels are damaged in each disease to improve future diagnosis and treatment.
