Doctors investigate if resting lungs helps protect kidneys

NCT ID NCT07368868

Summary

This study looked back at medical records to see if using a special machine (ECMO) to support breathing and rest the lungs in patients with severe pneumonia had any effect on how well their kidneys worked. Researchers analyzed data from 76 adults who were treated in a single intensive care unit. The goal was to understand if this life-saving breathing support could also help prevent or reduce kidney injury.
