New scan could replace CTs for tracking cystic fibrosis lung damage

NCT ID NCT05455671

Summary

This study tested a new imaging technique called electrical impedance tomography (EIT) to see if it can monitor lung changes in children and young adults with cystic fibrosis. Researchers compared EIT to standard CT scans to see if it could detect areas of trapped air and lung damage. The goal was to determine if this safer, radiation-free method could provide useful information about disease progression and treatment response.
