Scientists map the hidden damage of smoking in the lungs
NCT ID NCT05227547
Summary
This study aims to understand how smoking damages the lungs' natural repair system, which may lead to COPD. Researchers will collect and analyze lung tissue from 186 adults who are having lung surgery for suspected cancer. They will compare cells from smokers with and without COPD to non-smokers to learn why some smokers develop the disease and others do not.
