At-Home blood test could revolutionize lung cancer screening for smokers

NCT ID NCT05384769

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a simple at-home blood test (liquid biopsy) can make lung cancer screening easier and more appealing for high-risk smokers and former smokers aged 50-80. Currently, only a few people get the recommended CT scan. The blood test looks for tiny bits of cancer DNA, and if positive, may encourage people to follow up with a CT scan. The goal is to catch lung cancer earlier and save lives.
