At-Home DNA test could revolutionize lung cancer screening for smokers

NCT ID NCT05384769

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a home-based blood test (liquid biopsy) can make lung cancer screening easier for high-risk smokers aged 50-80. Instead of going to a clinic for a CT scan, participants collect a blood sample at home to check for cancer DNA. If the test finds signs of cancer, it may encourage people to get a follow-up CT scan, potentially catching lung cancer earlier. The goal is to see if this approach is practical and preferred by patients.
