First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tracks 126 heavy smokers aged 50 to 74 in France to see how many complete a three-year lung cancer screening program using low-dose CT scans. Researchers also measure how many people quit smoking during the program. The goal is to understand real-world adherence, not to test a new treatment.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

low-dose chest CT scan

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show how to improve participation in lung cancer screening programs, potentially catching more cancers early.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not testing a new treatment. It only measures adherence, so it won't directly prevent or cure lung cancer.
