Firefighters' lungs under the microscope: new study seeks better cancer detection

NCT ID NCT04614129

Summary

This study aimed to understand whether firefighters face different lung cancer risks compared to the general population. Researchers compared lung scan results from 734 current and retired firefighters with matched non-firefighters. The study examined how job exposures affect lung health and tested whether a blood test could help identify which suspicious spots on scans are most concerning.
