New inhaled antibody aims to tame stubborn asthma
NCT ID NCT07589439
First seen May 19, 2026
Summary
This study tests an experimental drug called LQ036, given as a daily mist through a nebulizer, in 216 people aged 12 to 75 whose asthma is not well controlled despite using standard inhalers. The main goal is to see if LQ036 improves lung function after 12 weeks compared to a placebo. Researchers will also check if it reduces asthma attacks, the need for rescue inhalers, and improves quality of life.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
LQ036 (a single-domain antibody given as a daily inhaled mist)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a new daily inhaled treatment to help people with poorly controlled asthma breathe better and have fewer flare-ups.
What could go wrong
This is a mid-stage trial with only 216 people, so results may not apply to everyone. The drug is still experimental, and side effects or lack of benefit are possible.
