Doctors test cutting radiation for HPV throat cancer to spare patients harsh side effects

NCT ID NCT04667585

Summary

This study is testing whether doctors can safely lower the radiation dose for people with HPV-linked throat cancer. It uses a special scan partway through treatment to find patients who are responding very well. If the scan looks good, those patients will get less radiation, with the goal of reducing side effects like dry mouth and trouble swallowing while still controlling the cancer.
