Could less be more? new study cuts chemo and radiation for HPV throat cancer
NCT ID NCT06902623
First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study is for people with early-stage HPV-positive throat cancer. Standard treatment uses full-dose radiation plus chemotherapy, which can cause long-term side effects. The study tests whether giving only lower-dose radiation (no chemo) can keep the cancer from coming back while reducing side effects. About 30 adults with stage I-II HPV-positive oropharyngeal cancer will take part.
