Just 40 seconds of exercise a week? new study tests the 'Micro-Workout' promise
NCT ID NCT07328568
First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a very short, intense workout—just one or two 10-20 second bike sprints, twice a week—can improve heart and lung fitness in inactive adults. Sixty healthy, overweight but otherwise healthy participants will do this for 9 weeks. Researchers will measure changes in fitness, how the body burns fuel, and how people feel about the exercise.
