Could breathing less oxygen help people walk again?

NCT ID NCT02274116

Summary

This study is testing whether repeated, brief sessions of breathing low-oxygen air can help improve walking recovery in people with chronic spinal cord injury. Researchers believe this mild stress might 'wake up' the nervous system and strengthen the connections needed for walking. The study will measure changes in walking endurance, speed, and muscle coordination in about 30 participants to see if the treatment is safe and effective.
