Veterans trial aims to halt fatty liver disease with common hormone

NCT ID NCT05526144

Summary

This study is testing whether a low dose of thyroid hormone can treat a serious form of fatty liver disease called NASH in Veterans. Researchers believe the hormone may help the liver's energy centers burn excess fat more effectively. The trial will compare the hormone against a placebo in 128 participants over a year to see if it improves liver health and reduces scarring.
