Can a Low-Dose pill cut breast cancer risk for radiation survivors?

NCT ID NCT01196936

Summary

This study is testing whether a low daily dose of the drug tamoxifen can help prevent breast cancer in women who had radiation therapy to their chest area earlier in life. It involved 84 women who were randomly assigned to take either the low-dose tamoxifen or a placebo pill for two years. The main goal is to see if the treatment safely reduces known markers of breast cancer risk, like breast density seen on mammograms.
