NCT ID NCT07436988
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a new, affordable type of radioactive microsphere for treating liver cancer that cannot be removed by surgery. The microspheres are delivered directly to the tumor through a blood vessel, delivering radiation to kill cancer cells. The trial will enroll 18 adults with advanced liver cancer to check for safety and side effects.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
radioactive microspheres (labeled with rhenium-188 or lutetium-177)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a safe, effective, and low-cost treatment option for liver cancer patients who cannot have surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a very early Phase 1 safety trial with only 18 participants, so it is too soon to know if the treatment works or is safe long-term.
