Cheaper shot aims to ease crippling joint pain for hemophilia patients

NCT ID NCT06543368

Summary

This study tested if a lower-cost version of a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection could safely help manage painful, swollen joints caused by bleeding into them (hemarthropathy), a common problem for people with conditions like hemophilia. Fourteen participants with knee, ankle, or elbow pain received up to two injections and reported on their pain, stiffness, and satisfaction over six months. The main goal was to see if this simpler, more affordable method was feasible and could provide similar relief to standard, more expensive treatments.
