Could a strict diet reverse a silent liver killer?

NCT ID NCT04861571

Summary

This study is testing if an 8-week, very low-calorie meal replacement diet can reduce harmful fat and scarring in the livers of people with obesity and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Researchers will compare 10 people on the special diet to 10 others on a standard lower-calorie diet, measuring liver health with a non-invasive scan. The goal is to see if this diet could become a practical treatment option for those who cannot have weight-loss surgery.
