Statin gel trial aims to boost gum disease treatment
NCT ID NCT07282756
Summary
This study is testing whether applying a gel containing lovastatin (a type of statin drug) under the gums can improve the results of standard deep cleaning treatment for periodontal disease. It involves 44 adults with gum disease, including both smokers and non-smokers. Researchers will compare the medicated gel to a placebo gel to see if it helps reduce gum pocket depth and inflammation over six months.
