New study: No-Implant biceps surgery may be as effective as anchor method
NCT ID NCT06815796
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested two surgical techniques for fixing a damaged biceps tendon in the shoulder. Fifty adults were randomly assigned to receive either a standard anchor repair or a newer loop technique that uses no implants. The goal was to see if the loop method works just as well in terms of shoulder function, pain, and avoiding a 'Popeye' deformity. Results will help surgeons choose the best approach for each patient.
