New hope for kids with UC: Long-Term drug shows promise

NCT ID NCT02632175

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study looked at the long-term safety of a drug called adalimumab in children with ulcerative colitis, a disease that causes inflammation in the colon. 59 children who had already completed a previous study took the drug for up to 2 years. The goal was to see if it was safe and helped control symptoms like diarrhea and bleeding. The drug helped many children achieve remission, but it is not a cure—they need to keep taking it to manage the disease.
