First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study looks at whether the FDA-approved weight-loss drug phentermine can be used safely for up to 2 years to help people with obesity lose weight and improve health. About 870 adults with a BMI of 30 or higher (or 27 with weight-related health issues) will take the drug and be followed for 2 years. Researchers will measure weight loss, blood pressure changes, and other health effects to see if long-term use is a good option for managing obesity.
