10-Year study checks if HPV test alone is enough to prevent cervical cancer
NCT ID NCT04185389
First seen Apr 29, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study followed over 1,700 women for up to 10 years to see if testing for the HPV virus alone is as safe and effective as using both an HPV test and a Pap test to screen for cervical cancer. Participants provided a cervical sample for both tests. The goal was to measure rates of moderate to severe cervical cell changes (CIN2+) over time. The results help doctors understand the best way to screen for cervical cancer in the long run.
