Can a Two-Drug combo keep CLL at bay for years? a 10-Year watch begins
NCT ID NCT07774390
First seen Aug 19, 2026 ยท Last updated Aug 19, 2026
Summary
This study follows people with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) or small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL) who previously received a combination of ibrutinib and venetoclax in the CAPTIVATE trial. Researchers will track their health for up to 10 years to see what treatments they need if the disease returns, how long the initial response lasts, and whether the cancer becomes resistant. Participants may also provide blood samples to check for tiny amounts of remaining cancer cells and genetic changes. The goal is to understand the long-term real-world impact of this treatment combination.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- ibrutinib plus venetoclax combination therapy
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could reveal how long the benefits of ibrutinib plus venetoclax last and what treatments work best when the disease returns, guiding future care for CLL patients.
- What could go wrong
- This is an observational study, so it cannot prove cause and effect. Results depend on real-world data from a specific trial group, which may not apply to all CLL patients.
