One year after ARDS: Kids' lungs still show lasting damage
NCT ID NCT01435889
First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study followed 38 children who survived acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) to see how their lungs were doing one year later. Researchers measured lung stiffness, breathing symptoms like cough and wheeze, and looked at CT scans for any lasting damage. The goal was to understand long-term recovery, not to test a new treatment.
