Ebola's hidden toll: brain issues linger for years in child survivors
NCT ID NCT06811129
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 35 times
Summary
This study examined 328 people who were children during the Ebola outbreak in Liberia. Researchers wanted to understand long-term brain and nerve problems in survivors compared to close contacts who never got sick. Participants had a neurological exam, memory and thinking tests, and answered questions about symptoms. The goal was to describe these lasting effects, not to test a treatment.
