Full-Body scans reveal hidden immune clues in long COVID

NCT ID NCT07076862

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study uses a special full-body PET/CT scan to look for signs of immune system activity in people with Long COVID. Researchers will compare scans from 51 participants with and without Long COVID to see where the body might be inflamed. The goal is to better understand what causes Long COVID symptoms and find ways to measure and treat it in the future.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

[¹⁸F]F-AraG (a radioactive tracer for PET imaging)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to better ways to diagnose and monitor Long COVID by identifying where immune problems are happening in the body.

What could go wrong

This is a very early, small study (51 people) that is only looking at imaging, not testing a treatment. It may not find clear patterns or lead directly to new therapies.
