Fighting loneliness to curb opioid crisis
NCT ID NCT06285032
Summary
This study tested whether reducing loneliness could help prevent opioid misuse in people with chronic pain who take long-term opioid medications. Researchers worked with 102 primary care patients who reported feeling lonely and were on chronic opioids. They tested two approaches: psychological therapy and social navigation support, to see if addressing loneliness could lower risky opioid use.
