Could local anesthesia be better for older hernia patients? new study aims to find out.

Summary

This study looks at whether local anesthesia (numbing only the surgery area) works as well as general anesthesia (being fully asleep) for older adults having inguinal hernia repair. About 80 Veterans aged 60 and older will take part. The goal is to gather information to plan a larger, more definitive study, not to prove which method is better yet.
