Tiny radioactive beams aim to zap liver tumors in new trial

NCT ID NCT04362436

Summary

This study tested a targeted radiation treatment for people with neuroendocrine cancer that had spread to the liver and could not be removed by surgery. Doctors injected tiny radioactive beads directly into the liver's blood supply to deliver high-dose radiation to the tumors while trying to spare healthy tissue. The main goals were to see if the treatment was safe, if it shrank the tumors, and how it affected patients' survival and quality of life.
